2.Timber Harvesting: FSC requires forest managers to carry out responsible and sustainable harvesting. They must ensure that harvesting does not harm the long-term health of the forest ecosystem and take measures to protect rare species and sensitive areas.
3. Supply chain traceability: FSC requires each party involved to provide traceability information for the paper. This includes the location of the harvest, wood types, harvest volume, and transaction records. This information is typically confirmed and traced through documents, certificates, and records.
4. FSC Certification Chain of Custody (CoC): All suppliers involved in paper production and processing need to obtain FSC's CoC certification. They must be able to demonstrate that their products originate from FSC-certified forests and that the production process meets FSC standards.
5. FSC logo and certification number: When paper products are FSC certified, they can use the FSC logo and certification number on the product. This allows consumers and customers to verify the FSC certification status of the product by checking these logos and numbers.

Three Main Categories of FSC Labels

1. FSC 100%: The product is made entirely from materials sourced from FSC-certified forests. It guarantees that the wood or paper used in the product comes from responsibly managed forests, where social, environmental, and economic aspects are considered.
2. FSC Mix: The product contains a mixture of materials from FSC-certified forests, recycled materials, or controlled wood sources. The specific percentages of each source may vary but must meet the requirements set by FSC.
3. FSC Recycled: The product is made entirely from post-consumer or post-industrial recycled materials. It ensures that the product does not contain any newly harvested wood but instead promotes the reuse and recycling of materials.

FSC Requirements and Criteria for Labels

There are two formats for using FSC labels on products: vertical and horizontal.
The size of the label also has corresponding requirements depending on the format. The minimum dimensions for the two formats are :
1. Vertical Format: The minimum length of the label should not be less than 9mm.
2. Horizontal Format: The minimum height of the label should not be less then 6mm.
If the label needs to be enlarged, it should be proportionally increased.
